Oilseeds sunflower market: Price increases in Mandalay market

Price of the oilseeds sunflower has now increased in Mandalay market and a bag of oilseeds sunflower containing 27 viss can fetch 100,000 Kyats. The increased price brings benefits to local growers and sunflower cultivation has been increasing in Myanmar year by year.

Soe Win Myint, said " In 2022, the price of oilseeds sunflower was only 60,000 kyats per bag. Now, it can fetch 100,000 kyats per bag and each bag contains 27 viss. By expanding the oilseeds sunflower cultivation, we can reduce the import of cooking oil from foreign markets. It brings benefits to the State and increases income for local growers."

There are 2 types of sunflower crops such as roasted sunflower and oilseeds sunflower. Roasted sunflower crops are grown along the bank of the Ayeyawaddy River and in Taunggyi and Aungban areas. The oilseeds sunflower crops are grown across the country.
