Two bodies were recovered from the fire of a crude oil tanker ‘Banglar Jyoti’ hours after a fire broke out following an explosion on the ship’s bow near Dolphin Jetty number seven of Patenga in Chattogram on Monday.
The tanker was unloading around 11,000 tonnes of crude oil from large vessels anchored outside the port and brought it to Patenga refinery. The fire has been brought under control. The fire fighters of Chattogram Port Authority, along with the Bangladesh Navy, Coast Guard, and Fire Service and Civil Defence officials dispatched multiple tugboats and firefighting vessels to control the blaze.The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
