Official Visit : MOFA Union Minister visits China

At the invitation of Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, U Tin Maung Swe, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, has pays an official visit to China. During the visit, Union Minister met with Mr. Wang Yi at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on 5 June.

During the meeting, the two sides cordially exchanged views on further consolidating the existing traditional "Pauk-Phaw" friendship between Myanmar and China, accelerating pragmatic cooperation, including the building up of a “Community with a Shared Future,” enhancement of cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries, boosting bilateral trade and investment, continue cooperation for stability and peace along the border, and China’s continued support and assistance towards Myanmar’s peace process and socio-economic development efforts.

Furthermore, both sides agreed to continue working on combating online scams and other illegal activities in the border areas, and to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation while rendering mutual support to each other on regional and international arenas.

During the discussions, the Union Minister expressed his profound appreciation to China for its consistent support forwards Myanmar, particularly for its contribution in the post-earthquake rehabilitation processes.

He also emphasized that Myanmar fully supports the “One China Policy” and the four global initiatives of the Chinese leader, and will continue to collaborate on regional and international areas, especially under the matters, including through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and Lancang-Mekong cooperation frameworks.

Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. Wang Yi stated China will continue working for the strengthening of friendly Pauk Phaw relations, and will continue to support Myanmar’s peace process and its own way toward building a democratic nation in alignment with its own national interests.

He also added to enhance understanding and trust through close cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries and thereby advancing mutually beneficial cooperation across all sectors. Later in the evening, the Union Minister  met with Mr. Li Hongzhong, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China (NPC), at the Great Hall.

They engaged in a cordial exchange of views on parliamentary and governmental initiatives, exploring opportunities to expand cooperation between the two Parliaments, discussed ways to open up a new chapter in bilateral relations and cooperation.
