Offering titles and certificates: VSG attends ceremony to honour the members of Sangha

A ceremony to honour 152 members of the Sangha who passed the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida selection examination organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture was held in conjunction with the certificate presentation ceremony at MahaPasana Cave on Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon in the morning on May 23.

Present at the ceremony were members of the Sangha led by Secretary of the State Sangha MahaNayaka Committee  Aggamahapandita Saddhammajotikadhaja Presiding Sayadaw of Thanlyin Min Kyaung Pahtabyan Sarthintaik Dr. Baddanta Candimabhivamsa, Ovadacariya Sayadaws of Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida selection board, Tipitaka Dhammabhandagarika Sayadaws, Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Sayadaws, exam contributor Sayadaws, TipitakaPucchekaSayadaws, supervisor Sayadaws, members of the Sangha who passed the 75th Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida selection examination, Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than ThanNwe, SAC member DrKyawTun, Union Ministers U KoKo, U Myint Kyaing and Dr. Thet Khaing Win,  Chief Minister of Yangon Region U Soe Thein, Lt-Gen Thet Pon of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Commander of Yangon Command Maj- Gen Zaw Hein and their wives, senior military officers from the office of commander in chief, departmental officials and guests.

The Vice-Senior General and party took the Five Precepts from Vice-Chairman of the Ovadacariya Committee of the examination Presiding Nayaka of Mogaung Monastery of Hinthada in Ayeyawady Region AbhidhajaMaha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja AggaMaha Saddhammajotika Bhaddanta Sudhammacarabhivamsa.

Next, Secretary of the State Sangha MahaNayaka Committee  Aggamahapandita AggamahaSaddhammajotikadhaja Presiding Sayadaw of Thanlyin Min KyaungPahtabyanSarthintaik Dr. BaddantaCandimabhivamsa read the SaraniyaOvadakatha. Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U KoKo supplicated religious affairs.

Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Miniser Vice-Senior General Soe Win offered MulaAbhidhammakovida title and certificate to AshinJotikalankara and AshinVasavalankara of MingunTipitakanikaya monastery, Moe Meik Hill, Sagaing Township of Sagaing Region, who has passed the two and a half Pitaka treatises,.

SAC member DrKyawTun also offered MulaAbhidhammakovida title and certificate to AshinVisuddha of of TipitakaMahaGandawin Nikaya Monastery in Dagon Myothit (East) Township of Yangon Region and AshinIndakalankara of Mingun Tipitakanikaya monastery, Dighanikayakovida title and certificate to AshinGandhama of Mingun Tipitakanikaya monastery.

Union Ministers U KoKo, U MyintKyaing and Dr. ThetKhaing Win, Chief Minister of Yangon Region U SoeThein, Lt-Gen ThetPon of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Commander of Yangon Command Maj- Gen Zaw Hein offered the respective title and certificate to 85 members of Sangha who passed the respective Tipitaka examinations. Vice Chairman of the SanghaMahaNayaka Committee Chief of Mahanayaka Sayadaw of Ma Soe Yein Taikthit monastery AggaMaha Pandita Aggamaha Saddhamma jotikadhaja BhaddantaKesarabhhivamsa delivered a sermon, and congregation led by the Vice-Senior General shared merits gained.

They then offered the offertories to the members of the Sangha. Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, SAC member Dr Kyaw Tun, Union Ministers,  Chief Minister of Yangon Region, senior military officers from the office of commander in chief offered the provisions and offertories to the members of Sangha who passed the examination.
