Thunderstorms struck Lantau Island of Hong Kong lasting for more than half of the day. The weather remains unstable in the city and the Red Rainstorm Warning Signal was issued by the observatory earlier Tuesday in Hong Kong and reminded residents of comparatively heavy rain on said Island and the western parts of the city.

Several areas in the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) recorded rainfall of over 50 millimeters. Many students were also forced to stay behind on school premises due to the Red Rainstorm Warning Signal. The observatory forecast that heavy rain will continue throughout the next two to three days. Meanwhile, flood detection devices were installed at 42 entry and exit points of 26 stations in preparation for the upcoming typhoon season.
