Observation of WED: Taninthayi Region CM awarded the prizes

In accordance with the theme of “Land restoration, desertification and drought resilience”, the World Environment Day was observed at the Township Hall of Dawei Township in the morning on Wednesday.

At the ceremony, Taninthayi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko said that for the awareness of global triple crisis that is “climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution”, this year’s theme was designated.The public participation in the mitigation of climate change, conservation of biodiversity and the solution of pollutions including plastic pollution are needed.

After screening the video message of sent by the UN Secretary General and a video clip marked the World Environment Day, the Chief Minister and officials awarded the Region level prizes of excellent environmental management area (model Village) and the prizes of essay and painting. Then, they looked round the exhibition booths displayed marking the World Environment Day.
