A wildlife park in Lanzhou City, northwest China’s Gansu Province, has succeeded in artificial breeding of a giant panda in captivity recently. At the Lanzhou Wildlife Park, the cub born to the giant panda named “Man Lan” is about to reach one month old. The panda cub weighed just over 100 grams when it was born.
Now, it has begun developing the distinctive physical traits of a giant panda: its limbs, shoulder girdle, and eye sockets have turned black, and its weight has reached nearly 1,300 grams. After the one-month mark, the incubator will be gradually opened to the outside world to help the cub acclimate to the environment, eventually leading to its full exit from the enclosure. The park now has five giant pandas.
