North Koreans marked the 25th death anniversary of the state's founder Kim Il Sung on Monday, state media reported. Footage showed North Koreans laying down flowers in front of the statue of Kim Il Sung at Mansu Hill in Pyongyang.

The video also showed a floral basket presented by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the grandson of the founder. Additionally, the video showed North Koreans mourning the death of their country's founder by paying a 3-minute silent tribute in front of his portrait at Kim Il Sung Square. Kim Il Sung led his country from its founding in 1948, through the 1950-53 Korean war, to his death in 1994. He was succeeded by his son Kim Jong Il, who died in December, 2011.
