North Korea airs a video of Kim's fourth visit to China and his return to Pyongyang

14 January 2019

North Korea's state-run television broadcast a video of its leader Kim Jong Un's latest trip to China this week on Friday. The video chronicled the activities of Kim and his wife who had meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife and attended an welcome ceremony and banquet on January 8. January 8 was also Kim's 35th birthday, South Korean officials said.

The video showed Kim on Wednesday touring a pharmaceutical factory located in the economic-technology development zone in Beijing, as well as meeting with Xi at a hotel in Beijing before his departure. Kim's visit to China came amid reports of advanced negotiations for a second summit between Washington and Pyongyang aimed at resolving the standoff over North Korea's nuclear and missile programmes.
