Non-Stale Robe Weaving Ceremony: Celebration at Maravijaya Buddha Park

Non-Stale Robe Weaving Ceremony was organized for the second time at the Maravijaya Buddha Park in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

The opening ceremony commenced with three times recitation of Namotasa, and reading of ZayaMingalar ritual papers. This was followed by ceremonial ribbon cutting event by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife.

After nine-time striking of Auspicious Gong, the weaving teams began the weaving process, along with the performance by the artists of Myanma Radio and Television under the Ministry of Information, cultural troupes from Fine Art Department under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and those from Myawady Music Band under the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare.

At the same time, the attendees released small hot air balloons and helium balloons. The Prime Minister and wife and attendees oversaw the weaving processes of the participating teams and encouraged the participants. Likewise, the Sein Na Pan and Nya MeeGyi Hot Air Balloons were released and it was enjoyed the Prime Minister and wife and party together with the pilgrims and visitors to the Tazaungdaing Lighting Festival.

The Prime Minister and wife later paid homage to the Maravijaya Buddha Image, offering flowers, water and oil lamps. They also took part in lighting oil lamps at the pagoda platform, cordially greeting the pilgrims. The Tazaungdaing Lighting Festival is being held at Maravijaya Buddha Park from November 13th to 15th in a grand manner.

The festival includes uninterrupted recitation of Parittas, recitation of religious verses, displaying fireworks, releasing hot air balloons and weaving non-stale robes. In addition, the LED lightings were being illuminated in the Buddha Park, along with the exhibition of local products, foodstuff, consumer goods and traditional snacks. Moreover, the visitors can enjoy the theatrical drama performance by the artistes of Fine Art Department and Pho Chit Drama Troupe.
