Nipah infection confirmed in 14-year-old boy in Kerala

A case of Nipah virus infection has been confirmed in the south Indian state of Kerala. The Kerala Health Minister has confirmed Nipah infection in a 14-year-old boy from Malappuram District. The Minister said Pune’s National Institute of Virology had confirmed the infection in the boy who is currently under treatment at a private hospital. After the detection, 214 people have been put under observation and 60 in high risk category.
