Police arrested nine people on London's Oxford Street after calls on the social media platform TikTok to mob and loot stores on the busiest shopping street in Europe, with the British interior ministry calling for severe sanctions in response.

Hundreds of people gathered outside the JD Sports shop on Oxford Street in response to messages on Snapchat and TikTok urging users to take part in the "Oxford Circus JD robbery" from mid-afternoon.
