Nicaragua confirms the elimination of dual citizenship

Nicaragua ratified a constitutional reform that eliminates the right to dual citizenship, a blow to the hundreds of thousands of Nicaraguan exiles who will now lose their citizenship if they obtain a foreign one. The measure is part of the sweeping changes to the Constitution that in 2025 granted absolute power to Nicaragua's co-presidents, spouses Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo.
