New Yorkers celebrated Good Riddance Day in Times Square on Thursday and burned notes with bad memories, a Latin American tradition during which New Year's revelers stuff dolls with objects representing bad memories before setting them on fire.

Tamara Litt, Schoolteacher in New York said "So in 2023, my sister battled with lymphoma during her seventh month of pregnancy. And so, I just want to leave that behind in 2023 and wishing her and her fourth child nothing but health and love in the 2024 New Year."

They also shared their hopes for 2024, as they write down wishes on pieces of paper that will be used as part of the confetti for the New Year's Eve ball drop.
