Thousands of people plunged into the icy cold North Sea as part of a New Year's Day tradition in the Dutch seaside town of Scheveningen on Sunday.
The swimmers made a dash into the chilly waters, tolerating the cold winter temperatures. The New Year's Dive has grown into a massive event, and is sponsored by Dutch food company Unox, famous for its sausages.
The event organiser said around 10,000 people have participated in the event and 50,000 others are expected to dive in water all over the Netherlands. The New Year's Day tradition is said to have been started by a local swimming club in the 1960s and it is now marked across the country.
