New Stamps Sold: New Postage Stamps Sold To Mark 145th Anniversary Of UPU

The Yangon General Post Office sold the new postage stamps to celebrate the 145th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union which falls on the 9th October.

Myanmar Post under the Ministry of Transport and Communications released the special postage stamps of 200 Kyats denomination to commemorate the 145th Anniversary of the Universal Postal Union.

Manager (Retired), Myanmar Post, U Khin Mg Aye said “The special stamps have been selling at all post offices in the states and regions at the same time. What special is that the date stamp will also be postmarked on the firstday cover in the commemoration special only in three general post office, the Central Post Office of Nay Pyi Taw, the Yangon General Post Office and the Mandalay General Post Office.”

Myanmar Post released the 1 million postage stamps for this time and went on sale the stamps at the post offices in the states and regions.

Chairman, Myanmar Philatelic Society., U Mya Thaung said “This year is really special because totaling 33 special stamps have been issued till now. There are also associated items in releasing a special postage stamp including envelope, stamp holder and so on. The stamp collectors valued the postmark with date of issue on the first day cover.”

October 9th is regarded as the World Post Day by Universal Postal Union (UPU). Myanmar entered to the UPU since 1949 and so this year is the 145th Anniversary of World Post Day and 70th Anniversary of Myanmar Post entering into the UPU.
