New Roads in Shan State: Two new roads opened in Southern Shan State

Marking the 78th Shan State Day, the new 22 wide asphalt concrete to Shwe Phone Pwint Pagoda was held in Taunggyi Township on 6th February. Member of the SAC, Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, SAC members Porel Aung Thein, Dr. Ba Shwe, Khun San Lwin and Chief Minister U Aung Aung attended the ceremony.

After cutting ceremonial ribbons, SAC member Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and SAC members presented honorary certificates to U Sai Ywat from Sein Hninsi Mining Co., Ltd and Loi Khan Modern Housing Project, Shwe Phone Pwint Pagoda Board of Trustees, Myanmar Engineering Association and Director General from State Development Committee.

Then, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Jeng Phang Naw Taung and Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win presented cash awards to the performance troupes.

Then, the SAC Member Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, SAC members and Union Ministers made a tour along the new constructed facility. Later, Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and party paid homage to the pagoda, offered flowers, water and oil lamp. They also paid homage to the Diamond bud and vane which will be donated to the pagoda.

Then, the SAC Member Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and party offered day meals to the Sayadaws and members of Sangha, donated offertories, listened to the sermons delivered by sayadaws and shared the merit gained.

Afterwards, Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and party attended the opening ceremony of 1/6.82 mile Taung Myay Char – Myauk Myay Char - new concrete road section on Heho-Bawsai Road in Kalaw Township. At the ceremony, Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe made an opening speech. Subsequently, the Chief Minister U Aung Aung clarified the construction process and a local resident expressed words of gratitude.
