New Rail Service: Efforts for better transportation access

In order to provide smooth transportation to the public, Myanmar Railway launched new up and down train routes on Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw and Nay Pyi Taw-Mandalay Rail sections, using the new modern DEMU coaches on Friday.

The launching event of Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw up train route took place in Yangon Railway Station, while the Mandalay-Nay Pyi Taw route commenced at Mandalay Railway Station.

On arrival of the passengers from those rail services at Nay Pyi Taw Railway Station, they were warmly welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communication General Mya Tun Oo and officials. They also saw off the passengers who will take these newly launched rail routes from Nay Pyi Taw to Yangon and Mandalay.

Public can take the modern DEMU trains along Yangon-Mandalay rail section via transit in Nay Pyi Taw, which only take about 11 hours the whole trip, reducing about eight hours travel time.
