New Prime Minister of Sri Lanka sworn in

Parliamentarian of National People's Power, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. She is also the third female Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, following late Sirimavo Bandaranaike and former President Chandrika Bandaranaike.

Various segments in the society admire the incumbent prime minister for raising her voice in the country on issues such as youth unemployment, gender equality, child protection, free education and equal opportunity for education.

She said that the incumbent government is ready to bring the change aspired by the people and requested the staff of the prime minister’s office to extend their fullest commitment and co-operation to fulfill this aspiration.
