New Paris mayor Grégoire cycles to city hall after win

Emmanuel Grégoire, the candidate of the left and the clear winner of Paris’s municipal election, leaved his campaign headquarters to head to city hall on a rental bike. Socialist Emmanuel Gregoire, who pollsters projected was elected mayor of the French capital Sunday, is a discreet politician who has worked behind the scenes both in government and at the Paris city hall.

He beat 60-year-old right-winger Rachida Dati -- one of France's highest-profile politicians -- to take the reins of the capital, which is home to around two million residents.
