A cub born to a pair of rescued ocelots at the São Paulo Zoo, Brazil is now available for public viewing. The newest member of the family was born at the end of April and had been staying in the institution’s technical area; her parents are part of the zoo’s conservation program.

Two felines found in at-risk situations and transferred to the São Paulo capital became parents at the end of April. Jaci was located during the wildfires that affected the Pantanal of Mato Grosso in 2024 and remained under human care after a technical evaluation determined she was unfit to return to the wild.

The male, Rudá, was found alone as a cub in the Tefé National Forest, in the state of Amazonas, after losing his mother. Both were sent to the São Paulo Zoo to join conservation initiatives for the species. The transfer was carried out through LATAM Airlines’ Solidarity Plane program.
