New Northern Irish leaders welcome UK PM Sunak to Stormont Castle

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Sunday embarked on a two-day visit to Northern Ireland, the day after Sinn Fein's Michelle O'Neill became its first nationalist leader. Sunak alsoplans to meet Northern Ireland's new deputy first minister Emma Little-Pengelly and newly-formed executive at Stormont on Monday to "discuss their immediate plans for delivery", his Downing Street office said.

This visit is Sunak’s seventh trip to Northern Ireland since becoming Prime Minister in October 2022 -- will also focus on "community engagements", it added. His first will be meeting "emergency responders, community heroes and families of those directly helped by the service" on Sunday evening.
