









The Opening Ceremony of the 4-storey building of the People’s Hospital in Bago was launched on 1st of June.
After the ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony, Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win and attendees sprinkled scented water on the stone inscription, commemorating the opening ceremony. They then toured around the emergency and out-patient department, Kidney Dialysis Treatment Center, isolation Patient room and Sangha Treatment room. Next, Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win gave an opening speech, expressing his appreciation to the donors for constructing this new facility, fully equipped with necessary medical equipment, and implementation of the Bago Region Government for soonest completion of the project.
Aung Thukha four-storey building is 99,400 square feet wide, and it was built to endure an earthquake. The ground floor houses the emergency and out-patient unit and conferencing room while the second and third floors house Kidney Dialysis Treatment Center, patient wards and Sangha wards.
The total cost of the facility is over 5 billion kyats. Moreover, five hemodialysis machines and other medical equipment were donated, along with the water purifier, 200 KVA generator and 500 KVA transformer and related equipment by the Ministry of Health. Public can get access to the dialysis treatment conveniently.
Next, the Union Minister, Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win and party oversaw the operation to the congenital cleft lip and palate patients and provided the needs. Then, the Union Minister, and party attended the launching ceremony of the 3-storey Bago Sub-Depot. After formal opening of the ceremony, they sprinkled scented water on the stone inscription.
In the opening speech of the Union Minister, he expressed appreciation to GAVI and UNICEF for providing new building and other requirements. This new building was built under the Expanded Program on Immunization of the Department of Public Health, funded by GAVI HSS2.
The Marvels Wealth Construction Company Ltd., of the UNICEF took responsibility for construction of this new building. Construction commenced on 1st May 2023 and completed on 31st December the same year. The facility is equipped with the walk in cooler and freezer rooms to save vaccines, dry store room, office room, conferencing room, training room, solar system, 45 KVA Back-up Generator, 1500 gallon water tank. The total cost of this new building is USD 336,000.
