New German FM Baerbock visits European Union

New German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock visited Brussels and held talks with the EU's Foreign Affairs Representative Josep Borrell.

Borrell welcomed her visit and applauded her new appointment as foreign minister, as well as being Germany's international representative on climate matters. Baerbock said her visit to Brussels on her first day in office signalled Germany's support for the union.

She said that the future of their country was forever embedded in the common European destiny. Prior to her Brussels visit and on the same day as her inauguration, she visited French Foreign Minister Jean Yves Le Drian in Paris for bilateral talks.
