New Banknote issued: CBM issued new 20,000 Kyats Banknote

In commemorating the completion of erecting Maravijaya Buddha Image with the aims of showing the flourishing of Theravada Buddha Sasana to the world, shaping Myanmar as a focal point of Theravada Buddhism, ensuring the prosperity of the State, and ensuring peace and prosperity in the world and the one year birth day anniversary of Royal White Elephant “Ratha Nandaka” which was born on 23rd July, 2022, the Central Bank of Myanmar will issued a new 20,000 Kyats banknote as of 31st July, 2023.

The banknote will be issued in limited quantity and distribute by changing with old banks in equivalent value. First, the new banknote will distribute by changing with old banks in equivalent value at Central Bank of Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay (Branches). The current circulating banknotes will remain unchanged.

The features of the new banknote are as follow: Dimension of new 20,000 Kyats Banknote : 15 x 7 cm, Dominant Colour: Light Green, Obverse Side: At the upper part of the note, the "CENTRAL BANK OF MYANMAR" is printed.

In the middle portion of the obverse side, Yadana white elephant in Myanmar artistic style is printed and the value of the note "20000" Kyats in Myanmar language is inserted on the right side of the note.

At three corners of the note, the value of the currency note in the figure is mentioned. Bank Note numbers are printed In the Myanmar horizontally and English vertically. The note bears the Watermark image of head of Yadana white elephant is inserted on its left side.

On the obverse side of both-edge is printed 12 short lines of tactile feature for the blind. Reverse Side: The note bears the illustration of Sagaing Bridge and Ayawaddy Bridge (Yadanabon) on the reverse side of the note and "CENTRAL BANK OF MYANMAR" is inserted on the top of the note and TWENTY THOUSAND KYATS" is seen on the lower part of the note.

At three corners of the note, the value of the currency note in the figure is printed. On the reverse side, a security thread, a dynamic colorshift that can be seen from any tilting angle, changed from gold to green is embedded upright in the note.
