Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took part in a state ceremony on the eve of Memorial Day, which honours the country's fallen soldiers.
Israel commemorates the day from sunset and into the following day to pay tribute to soldiers and victims of attacks, just before the celebrations of the anniversary of its creation, according to Jewish calendar. Memorial Day comes ahead of the country's 76th Independence Day on Tuesday, when Israelis celebrate the creation of their state.
