Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on Friday at the United Nations to defend the actions of his military.

He said attacks against the Lebanon-based Shia Muslim group Hezbollah are justified. World leaders have been urging him to agree to a deal that would end the fighting in Lebanon, but he showed no sign of agreeing to a possible ceasefire. He also justified his plan to continue military operations against Hamas fighters in Gaza, even as the conflict is about to enter its second year.
