Nepal/France partner for HydroNepal Project

The Nepal Electricity Authority, the Embassy of France in Nepal, and Blue Water Intelligence signed a Memorandum of Understanding to begin the HydroNepal Project. The project’s aims to improve knowledge of the Himalayan region’s hydrological processes in light of climate change and how they affect the production of hydropower.

The initiative to digitize Nepal’s river basins seeks to optimize its hydropower resources and enhance preparedness for hydrological risks. By digitizing basin data and offering advanced hydrological insights, such as river discharge forecasts and flow analysis, the project supports Nepal’s long-term goal of developing low-carbon energy.
