The Government of Nepal is set to host the first-ever Sagarmatha Sambad in Kathmandu from May 16 to 18, focusing on the critical issue of climate change, its impact on mountains, and the future of humanity.

The event aims to bring global attention to the challenges facing mountain regions, particularly in the context of climate change. Sagarmatha Sambad is a biennial initiative organized by the Government of Nepal to amplify the voices of mountainous communities and raise awareness on the global stage.

Through this flagship dialogue, Nepal aims to facilitate more open discussions on contemporary issues like loss and damage in the mountains and the urgent need for carbon financing.

The event is set to complement key international discussions, including COP30 in Brazil in November 2025, and the International Convention of Glacier Preservation in Tajikistan, scheduled from May 29 to June 1, 2025.
