Nepal celebrates National Paddy Day

Nepal celebrated National Paddy Day annually on the 15th of Asadh in the Vikram Samvat calendar to honor the country’s rice farmers and promote food self-sufficiency. This year’s theme is “Intensification in Rice Crops: Food Security and Self-Reliance.” 

Marking the occasion, people across Nepal took part in traditional rice planting ceremonies in paddy fields, embracing the monsoon rains with songs, mud play, and farming rituals. President Ramchandra Paudel and First Lady Sabita Paudel also joined the celebrations by participating in a symbolic paddy transplantation ceremony at the President’s official residence.
