Nepal attracts tourists with Elephant festival

The 18th Elephant and Tourism Festival kicked off in Sauraha, Chitwan, Nepal, attracting both domestic and international tourists. Held to celebrate the English New Year and promote regional tourism, the five-day event showcased over 80 elephants participating in activities such as walks, baths, football, beauty contests and cultural performances.

To boost tourism, hotels in the area offered discounts, increasing hotel occupancy rates from 40% to 65% during the festival. The festival took place at the Baghmara Intermediate Community Forest grounds, emphasizing Chitwan National Park as a key tourist destination.
