Nepal and India have amended the Protocol to their Transit Treaty.  The revised protocol was formally exchanged in New Delhi during a meeting between Nepal’s Minister for Supplies and India’s Minister for Commerce and Industry on Thursday.

According to ministry spokesperson, Nepal previously could transport only four categories of bulk goods by rail from the border points, but the amendment now permits all cargo types to move by both rail and road. The ministers discussed bilateral trade, transit arrangements, development of trade-related infrastructure and investment promotion.
