





The National Disaster Management Committee held a meeting (2/2024) at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw in the afternoon on Monday and the Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win delivered a speech.
In his remark, SAC Vice Chairman said that the meeting is held for the rapid and effective response to the recent flooding, the South East Asian countries were hurt by the Typhoon Yagi as well as in Myanmar including some States and regions including Nay Pyi Taw, the National Disaster Management Committee and Region and States Management committees are carrying out the management in rapid response.
As the Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister, he has been actively inspecting the flood-affected areas within the Naypyidaw Council Area since September 12 and has addressed the necessary requirements.
Officials from the management committees established for flood-affected regions need to visit and provide encouragement to the affected people. The essential needs should be emphasized, prioritized and supported. It is also necessary to clarify and address any concerns related to the operation of irrigation systems to prevent public anxiety
. The National Natural Disaster Management Committee, with its experience in handling natural disasters, has been urged to work collaboratively to address and resolve follow-up issues as effectively as possible. Myanmar has received international assistance without any restrictions.
Additionally, humanitarian aid from ASEAN is expected to arrive soon. The AHA Center's In-Country Liaison Team (ICLT) will also come to Myanmar to help with the dissemination of disaster-related information and to enhance the coordination and delivery of international aid.
Next, the Vice Chairmen of the Committee Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and Dr. Soe Win clarified the status of damages affected by the Typhoon Yagi. Then, the Committee secretary Deputy Minister U Soe Kyi clarified the implementations upon the decisions made during the meetings of the National Disaster Management Work Committee, acceptance of fund and current balance.
After that, the Committee members Union Ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, Regions and States Chief Ministers, Deputy Ministers and officials concerned clarified the related matters. Consequently, Director General of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology explained the Meteorological and Hydrological special occurrences and weather conditions for next 10 days.
After coordinating the requirements, SAC Vice Chairman gave a speech of conclusion.
