NBA Commissioner Calls for Action Against Team Tanking

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver warned that deliberate “tanking” by teams to improve draft positions is on the rise, saying the league must explore every possible measure to stop it.  

Adam Silver, NBA Commissioner said  “The competition committee started earlier this year, re-examining the whole approach to how the draft lottery works, and ultimately, any changes will require a vote of the board of governors, so then we'll need to go in front of the board, but there have been lots of different ideas out there over the years.” 

Silver added that current punishments are not effective and stressed the league’s commitment to maintaining fair competition while considering reforms to the draft system.
