Nay Pyi Taw Educational Festival: MoE UM delivered the opening address

The 2025-2026 Academic Year Union Territory, Nay Pyi Taw Educational Festival was held at Basic Education High School No. (1), in Zeyyathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw on January 3.

First, Union Minister Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, Deputy Ministers Dr. Zaw Myint and U Nay Myo Hlaing, and Nay Pyi Taw Council Member U Myint Soe cut the ribbon to open the Educational Festival archway and viewed the talent performances of students from each township.

Following this, the second part of the ceremony continued, with students from BEHS No. (1), Zeyyathiri Township, opening the event by singing the opening song "Celebrating the Festival Together." Afterwards, Union Minister for Education stated that to honor the accomplishments of students, January 3 has been designated as Education Festival Day since the 1998-1999 academic year.

The festival is held annually at region/state, township, and basic education school levels. She emphasized the need for all teachers, parents, and education stakeholders to support the development of quality human resources, which the state relies on, in line with Sustainable Development Goal-4 (SDG-4): ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.

She also stressed the importance of fostering good habits that enhance morality, discipline, and valuing the nation and ethnicity. Subsequently, Union Minister Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein presented certificates of honor to the national third-ranking winner of the 2025 Matriculation Examination and the gold medalist in sepak takraw at the 14th ASEAN School Games 2025.

Following that, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo delivered remarks and presented certificates of honor to three winners of the region-level Grade-9 English proficiency competition. Then, Deputy Ministers Dr. Zaw Myint, U Nay Myo Hlaing, and Nay Pyi Taw Council Member U Myint Soe presented honors and prizes to the winners of the region-level English proficiency and mathematics proficiency competitions.

Afterwards, Directors-General and responsible officials presented awards to winners of the World Teachers' Day commemorative High School and middle school level essay and poetry competitions; winners of the World Tourism Day commemorative High School level essay competition; winners of the National ICT Awards 2025 (Educational Project and Skills Competition); winners of the 105th Anniversary National Victory Day commemorative High School level essay and middle school level poetry competitions; and the marksmanship excellence award recipient from the Civil Service Academy (Upper Myanmar) batch No. (112).

 Later, students from schools in the eight townships of the Nay Pyi Taw Council area performed songs. The Union Minister and Deputy Ministers presented cash prizes of honor. Then, the Union Minister and responsible officials toured and encouraged the education-related exhibitions displayed by Township, it’s reported.
