Natural disasters preventions: MOEP Union Minister attended the coordination meeting

A coordination meeting on preventive measures related to the natural disasters by the Ministry of Electric Power was held at the office No.27 of Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday. It was attended by the Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han and officials concerned.

At the meeting, the Union Minister said the meeting is convened because of the warnings of cyclonic storm risen in the bay of bengal that may make landfall in the country.

He urged to carry out the disaster prevention plans in accordance with the guidance of the National Disaster Management Committee, to lay down action plans for the aftermath of the cyclone by the ministry, prepare backup generators to avoid the electric outage problems in relief camp areas including hospitals and ministries offices, and to control the power switch systems to prevent the electric hazards during natural disasters, to conduct the drills of emergency rescue works, and preventive measures on projects under constructions.

Then, the officials concerned and regional/state electric engineers reported matters related on the disasters preventions activities and the Union Minister gave necessary assistances.
