The Leader of SAC Information Team Maj-Gen. Zaw Min Tun explained the situation of natural disasters, the status of cyclonic storms that Myanmar has experienced and the efforts of the government’s preparedness and response to the natural disasters and the information to be conveyed to the public through the tele-communication on 7th May.
In his tele-communication interview, the Information Team Leader outlined the annual occurrences of cyclonic storms which landfall in Myanmar.
The Maj-Gen. stressed the need to get prepared and protect the natural disasters in efficient and rapid response.
He also added that Myanmar weather prediction is made according to the worldwide weather forecast websites such as Global Forecasting Models (FFS), European center for medium range weather forecast (ECMWF) and Myanmar Meteorology and Hydrology department’s global forecasting models (GFS).
With the guidance of head of state, the natural disasters and preparations for the relief and rescue work as well as providing humanitarian assistance.
According to the weather prediction, there will be low pressure area in southeast and southern Bay of Bengal which will get strong and form into depression while moving forward into the stage of cyclonic storm.
Such cyclonic storm can occur between Sittwe and KyaukPhyu of Rakhine State and another route between Pyabon of Ayeyawady region and Kwan Changon of Yangon Region.
He also emphasized to release weather updates regarding the natural disaster in timely manner not to get public panic.
All available resources including the human resources have been arranged to mobilize easy access of information so that the people will not easily believe in the rumors and not to be victims of the panic attacks etc.
