National Committee Meeting: Prevention and response to sexual violence in conflict

The National Committee on Prevention and Response to Sexual Violence in Conflict convened its meeting (2/2024) at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on Friday, attended by Committee Chairman Union Minister Dr. Soe Win and other relevant officials.

The Union Minister stressed that a national-level action plan on prevention and response to sexual violence in conflict is currently being implemented, with the third year term drafted as of November 10th, 2023. He emphasized the need to promptly distribute the biannual report of this 3rd year term to each department to ensure its release by the end of January 2025. 

The Union Minister also noted that the third year term of the action plan will conclude on November 10th, 2024, and plans are underway for further discussions on fourth year extension. This was followed by sector-wise discussions on actions from the previous meeting, implementation measures from work coordination meeting, the draft biannual report, and the approval and extension of the plan's fourth-term period.
