NASA and the US Navy have practiced how to retrieve astronauts from a spacecraft after it splashes down in the sea on its return from a trip around the Moon.

The US space agency said the training involved the four astronauts who will crew the Orion spacecraft in its test flight next year. The mission will travel around the Moon as part of the US-led Artemis lunar exploration program. Officials said, participants in the training confirmed how personnel on an inflatable boat should approach a spacecraft in the sea and safely recover astronauts.
