14 September 2018

An international folk song festival was held in Nanning, capital of south China's Autonomous Region from Wednesday to Thursday. Singers from ASEAN countries including Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines were invited to perform folk songs from their countries. Chinese singers also gave a Chinese rendition of Russian folk songs.

The two-day festival was a celebration of China's 40 years of reform and opening up and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Autonomous Region. It was an occasion to highlight the local ethnic culture and praise for China's development in the past decades with folk songs from regions across the country.
