Naga New Year Festival: SAC members attended the festival

Member of State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister, Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya TunOo accompanied by the SAC members Mann Nyein Maung, Dr. Hmu Htan, Union Ministers: Lt-Gen. Tun Tun Naung, U Min Naung, U Min Thein Zan, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Dr. Thet Thet Khaing, Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw, Deputy Minister U Win Pe and officials attended 2024 Naga traditional New Year Festival held in Layshi Township of Naga Self-Administered Zone in the morning on 15th January.

First, SAC member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister General Mya Tun Oo, Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw and Patron of Naga traditional literature and culture (Central) U Hla Tun opened the Arch-Entrance of Naga Traditional New Year Festival Ground by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.

Next, the Naga ethnic people conveyed the traditional flag mast in the ground in clock-wise direction and erected traditional Pan Pillar.Then, traditional prayer wood block was erected in front of traditional Pan block building and it was beat together with local ethnic people. Next, the SAC member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister General Mya TunOo and officials attended 2024 Naga traditional New Year Festival. First, they gave a salute to the State flag and the Naga traditional presiding person extended words of greeting.

Next, the SAC member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister General Mya TunOo expressed his pleasure for having opportunity to see the Naga traditions and customs, traditional ground variety dances and friendly relation. The SAC member Deputy Prime Minister added the efforts of the government for the socio-economic development of the ethnic brethren, development of healthcare, education, agricultural and livestock breeding sectors and the MSMEs development. Next, the region Chief Minister extended New Year greetings and a Naga ethnic woman clarified the history of Naga traditional New Year Festival.

Then, patron of Naga traditional literature and culture (Cenral) Commmittee U Ruu San Kyuu presented new year gift to the SAC member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister and the SAC member Deputy Prime Minister presented gifts for the Naga ethnic people.

Then, the SAC member Deputy Prime Minister, Union Ministers and region Chief Minister provided regional development items for the Naga ethnic people. After giving a speech of conclusion by the presiding person, Naga traditional dance groups entertained with the traditional dances and the SAC member presented cash of honor.

Then, they observed the traditional display booths and departmental exhibition booths.Afterward, the SAC member and party visited people’s hospital in Layshi Township, provided foodstuff and cash assistance for the hospital staff, cordially greeted the local people receiving medical treatment at the hospital and provided supplementary foodstuff.

From there, the SAC member and party visited Training School of Domestic Science for Women, observed the clothes sown by the trainee women and handicrafts displayed in the hall and inspected the dormitory and mass hall. Then, they proceeded to the Training School for Development of Nationalities Youth from Border Areas in Layshi Township, inspected dormitory, mass hall and library of the students and fulfilled requirements.

Next, the SAC member Deputy Prime Minister and officials attended the meeting with the personnel and students from Training School of Domestic Science for Women and Training School for Development of Nationalities Youth from Border Areas. After hearing the clarification on the data of the training schools and information about the Training School for Development of Nationalities Youth from Border Areas, SAC member Deputy Prime Minister provided cash assistance and foodstuff for the personnel and students from Khamti district and Homlin Township.

After coordinating for the requirements on the clarification, giving a speech of conclusion, the SAC member cordially greeted the attendees. In the evening, the SAC member Deputy Prime Minister and officials attended the Naga traditional bonfire and lit the bonfire together with the chairman of Layshi Township Naga traditional literature and culture committee U San Mya.

Next, the SAC member and party enjoyed the Naga traditional dances and presented the flower basket and cash awards to them.In the afternoon on 14th January, the SAC member and party visited Theravada Buddhist Missionary (Central) monastery, supplicated religious affairs and offered the offertories and cash donation to the members of Sangha and nuns.

From there, they proceeded to the Myoma Baptist Church and the bishop gave the prayers and the cash donation was offered to the bishop. Afterward, the SAC member Deputy Prime Minister and officials enjoyed the sports competitions in commemoration of 2024 Naga traditional New Year Festival and awarded individual medals and cash prizes to the winners.
