Myanmar Travel Fair 2023: Hoping for better future of reviving tourism sector

Organized by Union of Myanmar Travel Association (UMTA), the Myanmar Travel Fair 2023 commenced at the Secretariat office in Yangon on 27th January.

Officials from Yangon Region Government office, the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism, Myanmar Tourism Federation, Union of Myanmar Travel Association (UMTA) greeted the speeches at the opening ceremony.  

At the travel fair, sharing session about products will be included and also, travel packages will be sold with special discount plans by various tour companies.

Sales Manager, Horizon Lake View Hotel and Myat Taw Win Hotel, Nilar said "A promotion package will be provided for those who come to today’s fair. For those who want to stay at Myat Taw Win and horizon lake view hotel during the event period, we will provide discount on food, room and spa and other facilities will be available also."

According to the UNWTO, the tourism sector is the 2nd and 3rd largest source of Myanmar’s income. There are 3 pillars in the tourism sector: inbound, outbound and domestic. Domestic travel and outbound travel include more in today’s event, it’s learnt.

In order to revive the tourism industry, officials hope to organize this kind of event to be held in Mandalay as well.

Although around 90 galleries were on display in previous exhibitions, only 35 galleries were included as today’s exhibition is the very first exhibition that was held after COVID-19 pandemic.

The Travel Fair 2023 will be held for 3 days from 27th to 29th January, and visitors can buy travel tickets with affordable prices and can discuss with tour companies.
