Aiming at promoting and spreading Myanmar Traditional Chinlone Sport, Chinlone Conference of the participant team representatives of 44th Region/State Traditional Chinlone Competition was held at Gold Camp of Nay Pyi Taw Sports Training Complex on 10th of October.

Firstly, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan gave the opening speech saying that Chinlone (Caneball) playing is the most prominent traditional sport of the country and it has been played since 1927.

The first Traditional Chinlone Conference was held from 30th June to 6th July in 1953 in Yangon along with attendance of 33 representatives across the country. Right after forming Myanmar Chinlone Federation on 10th July 1953, Chinlone playing changed into a sport.

During 70 years of the Federation, the Chinlone conference wasn’t able to hold in some of the years. The Chilone Conferences are crucial for its industry while the discussions and negotiations are made for the rules and regulations, laws and bylaws, marking system, competition patterns and criteria that are related to the sport during the occasion.

The Chinlone professionals from different ages of time have made preservation and promotion for Chinlone sport and it spreads to the foreign countries when Chinlone demonstration was performed in China.

The sport even of Chinlone was initially included in 2013 27th SEA Games, and from there, it was continuously added in 28th, 29th and 32nd respectively.

It is a sport that the country can be proud of obtaining many gold medals. While the Chinlone sport is beneficial for physical wellbeing, mental strength and being artistic and suitable for men/women and every individual, the Union Minster urged to make efforts into spreading the sport among the student youths and making them to play with loyalty and preservation.

He concluded his speech saying efforts are needed to make traditional Chinlone sport be spread as long as the world exists and to reach ASEAN to global stages.

Afterwards, the Chairman of Myanmar Chinlone Federation U Thet Lwin said words of thanks and called for suggestions and cooperation efforts.
