




As Yay Boke Gyi village is treasuring and preserving Myanmar traditions, cultures of San-Yit-Wine (Myanmar traditional way of keeping the topknot with a circular fringe hair-do) which have become very interested and been observing by tourist from ASEAN countries, China, Japan and Korea including western countries.
San-Yit-Wine (Yay Boke Gyi) village is located about 7 miles northwest of Pwint Phyu Township, Magwe Region and the name Yay Boke Gyi is derived from “Yezalotegyi” which refers to the lake in the form of a bird’s crop located on the east side of the village.
There are five San-Yit-Wine hairstyles that the village is preserving such as “Oo-soon-phote ” for infants, “Kyat-taung-si ” for 3 to 4 years of age, San-yit-wine for 5 to 6 years of age, Japan’s “San-htauk” at the age of 16 and “A Nauk-kauk ” between the age of 17 and 18.
The San-Yit-Wine women’s organizations have formed starting from 2015 in the village preserving their traditional hairstyle.
Likewise, the visitors can pay a visit to Ayeya Thukha Koe taung pyae pagoda called YadanaU Pagoda which King Mani Sithu and the queen came for paying homage.
It is learnt that world travelers and tourists from ASEAN and western European countries paying a visit to Yepotegyi village where preserving and handing down Myanmar traditions and customs generation to generation since the time of ancient Myanmar’s Kings till to date.
