




The second day of Myanmar Rice Conference 2022 co-organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Myanmar Rice Federation was held at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-II in Nay Pyi Taw at October 7 and attended by SAC member Phado Mann Nyein Maung, Union Minister for Commerce, regions and states ministers for economic affairs, experts on rice and paddy sector and entrepreneurs.
At the panel discussions, regarding with the development of rice production, the papers on rice growing and producing seeds and the papers on rice purchasing, storing, milling and adding values were read by the ministry of agriculture, livestock and irrigation and the round table discussions, Myanmar Rice Federation, organizations, companies and farmers who are practically engaging the growing the rice discussed the the status of current implementation, the difficulties encountered and the points needed to be provided assistance by the government.
Next, the senior officials from the departments which are practically responsible read the papers on the development conditions of Myanmar rice industry in consecutive eras for the rice trading and export boosting, the roles of the government for the sustainable development of rice sector, national export strategy and export strategy on rice sector.
Regarding with those papers, the departmental officials and representatives from the organizations took part in the round-table discussion and gave suggestions. The Myanmar Rice Conference 2022 under the theme rising with rice held for two days from 6th to 7th October was attended by the representatives from the ministries, Myanmar Rice Federation and brother associations and farmers altogether about 400 individuals.
During the two days long conference, from the discussions as per the sector, the assessments on growing the pedigree seeds which are appropriate with the regions of the regions and states and preferred by the market, enabling to purchase the fertilizers in affordable price, upgrading rice mills to be able to export the rice met the quality, reassessment of national export strategy compatible to the changing export market, cooperation with the government departments in sending the representatives to abroad for the export promotion and the continuation of implementation for the development of rice sector by collaborating of government and private sector could be identified and the conference was successfully concluded in the afternoon, it’s leant.
