Myanmar Music Day: MOI Union Minister attends celebration in Yangon

With the support of the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, the Myanmar Music Association (Central) organized Myanmar Music Day in grand manner at National Theatre in Dagon Township of Yangon on 27th June.

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and many other concerned officials as well as invited guests attended this grand ceremony. There, the Union Minister presented 1,000 LED cheering sticks worth 3 million Kyats to audiences to enjoy the stage performances in commemoration of the Myanmar Music Day.

Also, bouquets were presented to Chairman of the Myanmar Music Association (Central) U Lwin Myint. This event continued with the performances by famous singers. Myanmar Music Day originated from the 2nd Conference of the Doh Burma Asiayone held on 27 June 1936 in Myingyan Township decided to selected the song ‘DohBamar’ as the national anthem.

The Myanmar Music Association Executive Committee designated June 27 as the Myanmar Music Day in its meeting on the 4th of June 2023. Previously, Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) broadcast the celebration of Myanmar Music Day so that the public can enjoy the musical performance of all ages.

Such music event will serve as a prelude to the Music Academy event to be held in Nay Pyi Taw in October this year. Music awards are planned in nine categories, including Myanmar traditional, classical, stereo, modern and international music.
