Myanmar Motion Picture Day: 103th Myanmar Motion Picture Day celebrated in Yangon

The celebration of 103th Myanmar Motion Picture Day and the 46th respect-paying ceremony to aged film artistes was held at the Office of Myanmar Motion Picture Organization in Wingabar Road of Bahan Township, Yangon Region in the morning on 13th October.
The event was attended by the Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and region Ministers, patrons and members of MMPO, aged film artistes, current film artistes and invited guests.
First, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn, Chief Minister U Soe Thein and Chairman of Myanmar Motion Picture Organization U Kyi Soe Tun opened 103th Myanmar Motion Picture Day by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
Next, Union Minister, Region Chief Minister and officials looked round the shop stalls opened as charity bazaar. Afterward, the 46th respect-paying ceremony to aged film artistes was held.
At the ceremony, 10 million Kyats of cash donation was donated by the State Administration Council for the aged film artistes, 2 million Kyats by the Union Minister for Information and staff families, 15 million Kyats by Yangon Region Chief Minister and well-wishers, 7 million Kyats by Forever Group Co., Ltd, sets of Sky Net DTH set top box included pre-paid bill for 6 months worth 16.3 million Kyats by Shwe Than Lwin (Sky Net) family and 1.7 million Kyats by the cinema industry families and the patrons and executive committee members of MMPO accepted the donations.
Then, the Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein gave words of delight for the ceremony and donations. Next, the attendee Aged Film Artistes were warmly greeted, presented cash and kind donations and paid obeisance collectively.
The veteran aged film artiste U Aung Lwin extended words of thanks and appreciation. The 13th October 1920, the day on which the film “Metta Hnint Thu Rah” ("Love and Liquor,") screened at the cinema, was designated as the Myanmar Motion Picture Day, and respect-paying ceremony to the aged film artiste have been paid obeisance in honour of Myanmar Motion Picture Day. It’s reached 46th ceremony this year.
