Myanmar Insurance Training Schools: Creating employment opportunities for people

Aiming to increase the employment opportunities for locals and to widely spread the knowledge about insurance to the public, Insurance Agent Training Courses were conducted at the Myanmar Insurance Training Schools in Yangon and Mandalay. 

Myanmar Insurance Training School was established in Yangon Region on 21st January, 2021 and the Insurance Agent Training Course No.1 was conducted in June 2021 in accordance with COVID-19 rules and regulations.

The training courses have been conducted with the guidance of Myanma Insurance under the Ministry of Planning and Finance. 

General Manager, Myanma Insurance, Lwin Oo said "The training courses have been conducting since 2021, and these training courses have already turned out 43 trainees in the insurance training course No.1, 42 in course No.2, 46 in course No.3, 61 in course No.4, 51 in course No.5, 47 in course No. 6 and 46 in course No.7 respectively. "

Almost 300 trainees have completed the Insurance Agent Training Course from Course No.1 to No.7, and they can work as the Insurance Agent not only in Myanmar Insurance but one other company for Life Insurance and two other companies for the General Insurance.

Starting from Course No.8, they can only work as the agent for the Myanma Insurance.  Currently, plans are underway to conduct the training course No.10 both in Yangon and Mandalay. 

General Manager, Myanma Insurance, Lwin Oo said "During the training period, Myanma Insurance provides the cost of meals in addition to the course fee for the trainees. Training course No.8 with 41 trainees and course No.9 with 53 trainees have already completed, and plans are underway to open training course No.10 soon. More training courses will be conducted not only in Yangon but also in Mandalay as well. "

Those who wish to be Insurance Agents can get application forms at the website of Myanma Insurance and can apply to the insurance company in person. To be an Insurance Agent, one must have completed the high-school education and can be submitted the application form along with the copy of NRC, household list and educational qualification.

Successful candidates from Myanmar Insurance Training School will get a license from the Insurance Supervisory Committee and only those who get license will be able to work as insurance agents. Myanma Insurance was established since 1952 and many insurance agents have been turned out since its establishment.
