









A celebration of the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee of Myanmar-India Diplomatic Relations took place at National Theatre in Yangon on Sunday. Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife attended the ceremony together with the concerned officials.
The Prime Minister and Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Vinay Kumar unveiled the celebration for the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubliee of Myanmar-India Diplomatic Relations. After the photo session, the Prime Minister and wife and party viewed the historic documentary photos reflecting Myanmar-India friendship and cultural relations which are on display at the exhibition booth.
The ceremony later continued with the screening of video clip honoring the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee of Myanmar-India Diplomatic Relations. The Prime Minister then gave a speech, saying that the diplomatic relations between Myanmar and India has been established along with the Independence of Myanmar on 4th January 1948.
It now reached the 75th anniversary Diamond Jubilee. He pointed out that the achievement of this long tradition of friendship and relations is resulted from maintaining the practices of 5 Principles for Peaceful Co-existence and Independence, Active and Non-Aligned Foreign Policy, respecting the sovereignty of each country.
It has been seen that efforts are being made for enhancing the multi-sectoral cooperation between the two countries. Due to India’s “Look East Policy” and “Neighbourhood First Policy”, the two countries has achieved significant benefits in politics, economy, trading, culture and socio-economic development through cooperation works. The Prime Minister expressed thanks for the assistance being provided by India for human resource development which plays major role in establishing democracy and federal system, desired by all entire Myanmar people.
The most significant evidence is that Myanmar has sent over 6,600 scholars to India from 2013 to 2021. He reiterated that currently, Myanmar is overcoming the obstacles and crises with the concept “the strength of the country lies within”. At this time, the assistance, provided by the partners and neighbouring countries with genuine friendship, brings a great strength for people of Myanmar. He expressed his appreciation to the friendly nations from international community including India for their constructive supports and stance.
He continued that despite the challenges, cooperation will be continued to make actively with regional organizations including the United Nations and the world nations as a country that pay emphasize on the norms and principles which could not harm the interest of the nation and its people, and the international relations.
In order to do so, 5-point Road Map and 12 objectives for political, economic and social affairs have been laid down during the tenure of State Administration Council, and concerted efforts are being made with the motto “Keep Moving Forward to Achieve Our Goal”.
In his conclusion, the Prime Minister wished for promoting bilateral friendship, and development of peace and prosperity of the two countries. The Indian Ambassador also extended greetings on the occasion. It was followed by the cultural performances and entertainment programs. The Prime Minister and party later enjoyed dinner in honour of the 75th anniversary Diplomatic Relations between Myanmar and India.
