Myanmar Gems Emporium: Aiming to generate more foreign income

More foreign income and employment opportunities will be generated for the people by selling Myanmar’s gems and jewelry through emporium. With the aim to generate more foreign incomes for the nation and economic benefits for the people, Myanmar Gems Emporiums have been held since 1964.

At the 58th Myanmar Gems Emporium which is currently being held, 295 pearl lots, 120 gem lots and 2,150 jade lots are being sold to local and foreign gem merchants through open tender system. In this sale, the floor price for pearl lots is set in USD, while jade and gem lots in Euros. Foreign gem merchants are allowed to make payments in USD, Euros,Yuan and Thai Bahtand for the local gems merchants, they have to make payments with Myanmar kyats equal to the market price.

292 out of 295 pearl lots and 77 out of 120 gems lots were sold from 18th to 19th March. From 21st to 23rd March, 2,150 jade lots are being sold through open tender system and Myanmar Gems Emporium will be held till 23rd March.
